Kontrak harga minyak dunia kembali meluruh.

“Dolar dilanda aksi jual belakangan, sehingga menciptakan kesempatan penguatan dolar dan penurunan harga minyak,” jelas Mark Pervan, head of commodity rsearch Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd di Melbourne.

Crude markets fell on Tuesday on oil demand worries following comments made by the Saudi oil minister that he was happy with current price levels, analysts said.

New York’s main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in November, was down 63 cents to 81.58 dollars a barrel.

Brent North Sea crude for November delivery fell 65 cents to 83.07 dollars a barrel.

Oil prices slumped after oil minister of key Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) member Saudi Arabia Ali al-Nuaimi said Monday he was “happy” with current crude price levels.

“Am I comfortable with the price? Yes,” Nuaimi, the de-facto head of OPEC, told journalists on Monday ahead of the cartel’s meeting on Thursday.

“The price between 70 and 80 (dollars per barrel) is an ideal price,” he added.

“We are comfortable with the whole market today, the situation in the market is very comfortable,” he told journalists. “The economic growth of the world has been remarkable in 2010.”

Analysts at Phillip Futures said this “may signal that the producer group’s most powerful member has no plans to pursue higher prices.”

“Investors worried that prices may have ran up too much ahead of oil demand” in the wake of Nuaimi’s comments, it said in a report.

OPEC’s 12 member countries — which pump 40 percent of the world’s oil — are scheduled to meet on Thursday, but Nuaimi rejected the idea that the cartel might increase oil production this year.
